The Valmor and Municipal Architecture Award was awarded today for the years 2018, 2019 and 2020, in a ceremony chaired by Carlos Moedas at Lisbon City Hall.

ARX ​​received two honorable mentions ex aequo for the 2019 and 2020 edition, with the projects for the Redbridge School Campo de Ourique and the Housing Building in Largo de Santos, respectively.

On June 27th, ARX gained a new Partner.

Architect Ricardo Guerreiro (Faro, 1982) graduated in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon in 2007.

He joined ARX that same year and has since developed and coordinated projects of different types and scales.

Architects Nuno and José Mateus are now designated as Founding Partners.

We spoke with Público P3 about our project Villa Maria Pia, where the rehabilitation of the old chalet is highlighted.

“Built in the 19th century, the chalet of Queen D. Maria Pia de Sabóia, in Monte Estoril, was rehabilitated in 2023, with the aim of preserving its “heritage and historical” character, says architect Nuno Mateus, responsible for the work, to P3. The intention, he emphasizes, was clear: to maintain the original, without “any innovative features”.

A Exposição “ARX Arquivo/Archive: Touring Exhibition#1”, versão itinerante da mostra que em 2013 esteve na Garagem Sul do CCB em Lisboa, vai poder ser vista no Convento de Cristo em Tomar a partir de 10 de Dezembro.

A exposição “ARX Arquivo” – Exposição Itinerante, foi inaugurada no dia 17 de outubro na Galeria Municipal de Arte – “Quartel”, numa organização da Delegação Centro da Ordem dos Arquitetos e da Câmara Municipal de Abrantes.

ARX arquivo é uma exposição centrada na construção de um arquivo. Um arquivo que se constitui, dando-se a ver, mostrando-se. Proporciona a experiência de habitar esse arquivo, com as suas formas surpreendentes de referenciação e classificação do processo arquitetónico.

Quando quer classificar esta exposição, a primeira feita de propósito para o novo espaço Garagem Sul, no CCB, Nuno Mateus encontra uma definição categórica: ARX:Arquivos, mais do que mostrar como o arquitecto pensou, «mostra o arquitecto a pensar».

A arquitetura volta à programação do CCB nos 20 anos do Centro Cultural de Belém. A primeira é “ARX: Arquivo”, passeio pelos 20 anos de experiência do ateliê de José e Nuno Mateus e pela maneira como pensam os seus edifícios, inaugurada hoje. Com um piscar de olhos a 1993.
