Gandarinha
Description
The geological landscape that characterizes the place, inspires and informs the proposed intervention in various ways.
In the vicinity of the cliff, very close to Boca do Inferno, these references are seen as a territory of exploration and inform the construction of spatial metaphors that anchor the project to the place and to the landscape. These iconic spaces create an exclusive character that becomes part of the intervention’s identity.
On the surface, autochthonous vegetation creates the setting where buildings with a rich and irregular texture live. Through the garden, we arrive to a double-height atrium where a pivoting door, with the same height, allows us to enter the interior of the blocks. Once in the apartments, increasingly refined materials invite people to live and remain in a protected but continuous dialogue with the garden.
On the other hand, the underground world is characterized by being a large subterranean space where we can hear the rain falling through the various openings to the surface. As we explore this great nave, we are surprised by exits that take us back to the surface, or striking spaces such as the amenities that relate to the outdoor swimming pool. Not forgetting, of course, the various independent accesses to the residences.
The intervention aspires to the timelessness of geology.
